The end-speech of our President, Hoshang Dadachanji summarizes the impact of the evening performance when he said that he has witnessed many singers performing before Beloved Baba?,? and when Baba enjoyed any performance His body would sway from side to side and ?H?e would bring His thumb and index finger together to indicate that He thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Hoshang felt that if Beloved Baba were present in His physical form today, He would have done just that ?for this performance.? ?This encapsulates the evening.
The programme started exactly at 5:00 pm with Mehernosh Mehta, Hon. Secretary introducing the program?m?e and asking the bhajan mandali to garland Beloved Baba. Prayers were offered by Shanti Mistry.
The next about two and half hours the audience? got ?transported in Beloved Baba’s presence with ghazals heartily sung in turns by Meherveena Rangnekar, Reema Tikekar, Nihit Mathur and Mehernosh Mehta. They were ably assisted by MeherSwaroop? Ahir? on the table, Nimesh Mistry on the?? duff, Rohan Tikekar on the cymbals and Homi Irani.
These were the ghazals sung before Baba and much liked by Him. At the beginning of each ghazal, Mehernosh explained the spiritual nuances to enable the audience to appreciate the deeper meaning of the lyrics, which were circulated in advance to all in the audience who ?may like to join in. An impromptu Sam Patell went on the stage to ?reminisce ? about how his father Eruchshaw would take singer Rangnath Jadav to Baba and he would accompany them as a young boy. He felt the same feeling this evening.
Cyrus Khambata, Vice President and Jt. Secretary in his vote of thanks ?concluded, “Aaj ki sham, Priyatam Meher Babane apni rehem-o-karam ki nazar se aisi aur itni pilayee ke is mehfil ko mehkhana? ?bana diya.” He thanked the singers and others on behalf of the Centre for their splendid performance.
Hoshang Dadachanji, besides lauding the performance as above?,? also added that ?Baba has blessed our Centre with such a team of bhajan mandali ?that they ?can match up to any of the? professional singers who had? sung be?fore Beloved Baba. Most of them? sang for money but here our team ?sings? out of ?their ?love for ?our Beloved? Lord, ?Avatar ?Meher Baba.
The evening ended with ‘Bujawe Naar’ Arti and distribution of prasad.
