We were fortunate to have Shri Shridhar G. Kelkar, Chairman, Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust, Ahmednagar, with us today evening to share his life and experiences with Beloved Baba.
The programme started at 5:00 pm sharp with Baba bhajans sung by the Bombay Centre’s bhajan mandali. Prayers were offered by Shri Shanti Mistry.
Shri Mehernosh Mehta, Secretary welcomed the gathering and made a few announcements about the just concluded events, namely, the two trips to Meherabad / Meherazad and the special programme conducted at Kalyan. He thanked the persons responsible for the same. Mehernosh also spoke about the upcoming event on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Bai Bengallee Girls’ High School, Churchgate when Gopi and party from Hyderabad will be performing for Beloved Baba.
Hoshang Dadachanji, President, introduced the Speaker, Shri Kelkar recalling the two family’s’ association dating as far back at the 1920s.
Shri Kelkar spoke from the heart recalling his great good fortune to have been inducted in the Baba fold owing to a ‘chance encounter’ at Poona way back in 1962. In retrospect, however, he was convinced that there is no such thing as ‘chance’ or ‘coincidence’ and believed that everything was divinely orchestrated and in the hands of ?our Beloved Lord Meher Baba. He spoke in brief about his in-laws association with Beloved Baba, the harbingers to Baba starting way back through Shirdi Sai Baba and Upasni Maharaj. Although Shri Kelkar kept saying that his talk is not structured, but rambling reminiscence, the audience enjoyed his extempore shifting of subjects. ?Our job is not to propagate but ?to ?share His name with others. Our own life should be such as to be an example to others, he exorted.?
His talk emphasized on remembering Baba all the time and making Him our constant companion. Baba has made it so easy for all of us. No indulgence in any kind of ceremonies or rituals, but just loving remembrance.
Shri Kelkar was felicitated by Shri Dadachanji.
The programme ended with Arti and prasad.
?A?ttached are a few photographs of the evening.
In Baba’s love,
